Our mission
Make music more accessible.
To expand access to percussion education and musical expression by collecting, restoring, and redistributing donated instruments to individuals and organizations in need.
The man behind the name
A grandfather with an old drum, a workbench, and a simple belief that a student's opportunity shouldn't depend on the price of an instrument.
Restoring Instruments.
Creating Opportunities.
Continuing a Legacy.
My grandfather used to take old drums, repair them, and sell them to students at prices far below what they might otherwise pay. His goal wasn't to make a profit from the instruments. It was to make sure students had working equipment and an opportunity to continue learning.
That practice stayed with me.
As instruments age, they often find their way into closets, basements, storage rooms, and eventually the trash. Yet many of these instruments still have years of music left in them.
Grandpa's Drum exists to bring that potential back to life. Today we are building a way to collect donated percussion instruments, repair what we can, and give them to individuals and programs who can put them to good use.
Our mission
To expand access to percussion education and musical expression by collecting, restoring, and redistributing donated instruments to individuals and organizations in need.
Our vision
A future in which usable percussion instruments are not unnecessarily discarded while aspiring musicians go without the equipment they need.
Our roots
An initiative of Fast Hands Drum Studio, Grandpa's Drum shares a philosophical connection with Becoming the Heartbeat: an exploration of rhythm beyond music and into everyday life.
